Choosing the right service
Different situations, different forms of support.
A slipping programme, a claim to prepare or answer, and proceedings that call for independent expert evidence each need a different scope, method and deliverable. The six services below set out what we provide, who each is for and when it is relevant.
Extension of Time Claims and Delay Support
For · Contractors · Subcontractors · Commercial and claims teams
Preparation and assessment of Extension of Time claims and compensation events under NEC, JCT, FIDIC and bespoke forms. Relevant when events are affecting progress and entitlement to time needs to be established, presented or tested.
The work covers event chronology, programme impact and the supporting records. Contractual compliance issues, including notice and time-bar provisions, are identified for consideration by the client and its legal advisers.
- EoT and compensation event submissions prepared in the form the contract requires
- Event chronologies connecting cause, effect and the programme
- Programme impact assessment of individual and combined events
- Records review identifying what supports the claim and where gaps remain
Forensic Delay Analysis
For · Contractors · Employers · Developers · Insurers · Legal teams
Contemporaneous and retrospective analysis of the causes of delay, their programme impact and the resulting delay to completion. Relevant when the parties need an accurate, method-based account of what delayed the project and why.
The method is selected to suit the contractual question, the available records and the forum. Material findings are connected to the relevant programmes and project records, with assumptions and limitations identified.
- Method selection suited to the records, the question and the forum
- As-planned versus as-built, windows and Time Impact Analysis
- Concurrency assessment and the treatment of competing causes
- Analysis reports structured for negotiation or formal proceedings
Programme Advisory and Assurance
For · Contractors · Developers · Employers · Project teams
Programme support while the project is live. Relevant when the programme is slipping, a baseline or update needs review, or emerging delay exposure needs to be understood before positions harden.
The work spans baseline and update reviews, progress measurement, recovery programmes and programme risk, together with the record-keeping needed to demonstrate cause and effect if events later become contentious.
- Baseline and update reviews covering logic, float and achievability
- Recovery programmes tested for realism before they are relied on
- Progress measurement against the accepted programme
- Record requirements defined while the information still exists
Claims Review and Rebuttal
For · Employers · Contractors · Insurers · Legal teams
Structured assessment of delay claims and delay reports. Relevant when a submission has been received and its methodology, factual basis and conclusions need to be understood before a response is committed.
The review addresses method, programme logic, causation, concurrency and evidential support, each measured against the project records, and reports what is supported, what is arguable and what is not.
- Methodology and baseline review of the submitted analysis
- Causation and concurrency assessment against the records
- Factual verification of key dates, events and reported progress
- Rebuttal reports and support in preparing the response
Expert Witness Services
For · Solicitors · Counsel · Insurers · Parties to formal proceedings
Independent delay expert appointments for adjudication, arbitration, litigation and expert determination, with reports prepared to the requirements of the applicable forum.
When appointed as expert, the overriding duty is owed to the court, tribunal or other decision-making body, and opinions are confined to what the evidence supports. The expert role is kept separate from consultancy and claims-support work, and the two are not combined on the same matter.
- Independent expert reports on delay and programme issues
- Expert meetings and joint statements with the opposing expert
- Responses to questions raised on the report
- Opposing expert evidence reviewed and addressed within the expert role
Delay Advisory for Legal and Claims Teams
For · Solicitors · Counsel · Claims directors · In-house teams
Technical programme and delay support for legal and claims teams. Relevant before and during contentious matters, where programme issues need to be understood, tested and clearly explained to people who are not planners.
This is a support role. It is separate from an independent expert witness appointment and does not constitute legal advice.
- Programme evidence review and early assessment of the delay position
- Chronologies and technical briefs prepared for the legal team
- Programme data and disclosure support, identifying the records that matter
- Plain explanation of programme issues throughout proceedings
Consultancy and independent expert work are distinct roles. When instructed as an independent expert, the overriding duty is owed to the decision-making forum rather than to the instructing party, and expert appointments are not combined with consultancy or claims-support work on the same matter.

How appointments are structured.
Where practical, work is divided into clearly scoped stages, so the position and the commitment can be assessed at each point.
Focused review
A short, defined review of a claim, a programme or a delay position, reported with clear findings and a recommended next step. Often the right start when the position is uncertain.
Defined assignment
A clearly scoped piece of work with agreed deliverables: a delay analysis, a claim submission, a review report or a rebuttal, delivered to an agreed timetable.
Ongoing support
Continuing programme and delay support across live delivery or through formal proceedings, with the scope adjusted as the matter develops.
